Family and Children Medicaid

Family and Children's Medicaid helps with medical bills such as doctor fees, prescription drugs, and hospital charges. The following may be eligible, depending on the amount of monthly income and resources available to the individual / family, and the amount of medical expenses incurred:

 

• Children through age 20 who live alone, with one or both parents, or with other adults.

• Parents caring for children under age 19.

• Pregnant women, with or without other children.

ePASS allows you to apply online for Medicaid.

Medicaid for Pregnant Women

Coverage is limited to services or treatment for conditions that affect the pregnancy. If a pregnant woman is covered by Medicaid, her newborn child is automatically eligible for Medicaid up to age one.

Pregnancy Care Management

Medicaid's maternity and child services program, provides formal case management services to eligible women during and after pregnancy and intervention as early in pregnancy as possible to promote healthy pregnancy and positive birth outcomes.

North Carolina Health Choice

Assists children under the age of 19 who do not receive Medicaid or have any other health insurance coverage. Coverage provided is the same as coverage provided for the children of state employees and teachers, plus vision, hearing and dental benefits.

Be Smart Family Planning

Extends eligibility for family planning services to reduce unintended pregnancies and improve the well-being of children and families.
